An Invitation
An invitation is extended
to organizations (whether public, private,
or independent) to gain special recognition for a member who has been
active in support of diversity and the ideals of inclusion. Any
such organization (including significant functional units) may nominate
one member for the Diversity Champion Honor Roll of the Race Relations
and Diversity Task Force. Enrollment of
nominees will be inclusive and non-competitive. Enrollees will be
honored at a community-wide breakfast.
In providing this opportunity, it is the goal of the Race Relations and Diversity Task Force to build capacity among area organizations in relation to issues of diversity and inclusion, to stimulate adoption and implementation of express policies supportive of diversity, and to promote the mission of the Task Force.
What Is A Diversity Champion?
He or she may be the conscience of your organization, someone who won’t settle for the status quo, someone who embodies the ideals of your group, a dreamer who envisions new ways of inclusion, a “doer” whose actions speak of respect for others, someone whose friendship circle represents many different kinds of people, someone whose voice persistently speaks out against insensitivity and prejudice. Consistent with the goals of the Task Force, a Diversity Champion may be someone who has helped your organization to adopt or to implement an express policy supportive of diversity and the ideals of inclusion.
